Q&A with Professor Rob about Wrestling….
1) Why did you start wrestling?
I didn’t grow up wrestling like most people in the US do at a young age through
my school years like most in the US. I started wrestling as an adult to compliment my martial arts. I wanted to bridge the gap between my striking and grappling martial arts. As a BJJ competitor I wanted to be more competitive against my opponents and gain the advantage of controlling the fight to my strengths.
2) Who has influenced your wrestling the most?
I was very fortunate to have great training partners that came from a wrestling background, they helped me greatly understand the pressure, the attacking and defending principles that only wrestlers can duplicate. My biggest influence was the time I spent with Coach Mark Schultz.
