Absolute MMA was filled with members of the Absolute Behring team from August 18-20, 2022 for the Flavio Behring Jiu Jitsu USA (FBJJUSA). Members from across the country including California, Montana, and Arizona (Fluid Martial Arts, Camacho BJJ) trained together in West Jordan. There were many new memories made as everyone in attendance trained together.
It’s seminar time!
One of the things that makes the annual FBJJ seminar special is the opportunity to learn from different BJJ Professors within the Behring organization. Mestre Fabio Oliveira, a Coral belt, shared his knowledge and experience with seminar attendees along with the Blackbelts who came to the seminar. Grand Master Flavio Behring also shared techniques via FaceTime. The days and nights at Absolute MMA were filled with learning and training opportunities.
There were also opportunities for seminar attendees to roll with each other, discuss techniques, and more which helped everyone improve their game. It was an excellent way for Behring team members to review techniques they learned from the Professors who shared their knowledge. These opportunities to collaborate and work together helped everyone progress in their BJJ journey.
Behring Jiu Jitsu Blackbelt Promotions
As part of the Behring seminar events, there were also 3 new Blackbelts in the Behring organization. Tony DeNofre, Will Doucette, and Matt Belchak were promoted after demonstrating their knowledge and teaching ability in front of Grand Master Flavio Behring and several Blackbelts.
All 3 new Blackbelts met Grand Master’s requirements. They also completed individual studies on an aspect of Jiu Jitsu they wanted to focus on along with completing a community service project using Jiu Jitsu. This experience helped uplift everyone they train with and others they come in contact with within their local communities.
Blackbelts Tony DeNofre, Matt Belchalk, and Will Doucette also had opportunities to share some of their favorite techniques during the Saturday session of the seminar. They each talked about particular details and adjustments for different body types as they showed positional movements, escapes, and other techniques.

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a Martial Art that teaches people how to defend themselves against larger, stronger, and more aggressive opponents through technique and leverage. BJJ classes teach students takedowns, joint locks, chokes, escaping bad positions, and more.
The roots of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu’s techniques can be found in Judo and Japanese Jiu jitsu. These techniques were brought together in the early 1900s by Grand Master Helio Gracie. Over time, BJJ grew in popularity due to its effectiveness and efficiency. The use of BJJ today isn’t just limited to BJJ gyms and BJJ competitions. BJJ techniques are also used by but aren’t limited to MMA fighters, women’s self-defense curriculum, law enforcement, and military personnel.
