Is Kickboxing a good workout?

It’s a stand-up striking system that uses punches, knees, elbows, and kicks both in self-defense and competition.

Physical and mental health benefits of Kickboxing

Kickboxing is an effective form of self-defense and each class is a great workout! Here are several benefits you’ll receive when you do Kickboxing:

  • Improved stamina: Since you’ll be moving the entire 90-minutes of class, you’re constantly burning calories. You’re also improving your anaerobic and aerobic workload when you train consistently. Classes don’t have much down time which keeps you moving which trains your muscles to work for longer periods of time.
  • Greater flexibility: We always take time to properly warm-up, stretch, and cool-down with every class. Because of this, your body’s overall mobility and flexibility will improve. Kickboxing requires your entire body to be engaged whether you’re slipping a punch or landing a leg kick. These movements combined with our stretching routine will help you get the most out of every class while reducing your chances of getting injured.
  • Better hand-eye coordination: We believe in the importance and value of drilling proper techniques. With each repetition, you’ll get better at everything from gauging the distance between you and an opponent to getting your punches to connect with your target. Overtime, your hand-eye coordination will improve and so will your reflexes.
  • More positive mindset: One of the greatest benefits of Kickboxing is experiencing a more positive mindset! Why? You’re not only feeling better because you’re exercising. You’re also feeling more positive because you’re making new friends in the process. Do I need experience to participate in Kickboxing/Muay Thai classes at Absolute MMA?

No, you do not need prior Kickboxing/Muay Thai experience to join our classes! People of different backgrounds and fitness levels take our classes every day.

What should I wear to Kickboxing classes at Absolute MMA?

We recommend wearing shorts and a t-shirt to Kickboxing class. You’ll want to wear clothing that allows for full-range movement and doesn’t have any zippers or buttons.
