What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a ground fighting system that teaches individuals how to defend themselves against bigger, stronger, more aggressive opponents. Our BJJ program at Absolute MMA is led by Professor Rob Handley here in West Jordan, Utah. Professor Rob Handley received his Blackbelt from Grand Master Flavio Behring. Grand Master Behring began his BJJ training under Helio Gracie as a child. As a result of this connection, our BJJ roots run deep and continue to help people in the Absolute MMA community to this day.
What can I expect to learn in a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class?
In our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes, you will learn self-defense. You will learn how to take a fight to the ground, control your opponent, as well as submission techniques such as joint locks and chokes. By attending our classes, you will also learn how to escape bad positions and more.
